Gastroenterologist Profile

Learn more about Interventional Endoscopy

I spent several years of my childhood in a poverty-stricken region of India. Our family doctor would give free health care to those who were less fortunate. These families couldn't afford to pay her, but their sincere gratitude and occasional offerings of vegetables were enough for her to return to the clinic, day after day. Her dedication to the underserved ingrained the ideals of medicine in me.

I became a gastroenterologist because it gives me the opportunity to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions from reflux disease to colon cancer to diseases of the pancreas and liver. Being a GI doctor lets me combine technical skills of performing procedures, along with the opportunity to get to know my patients in the office.

My subspecialty is interventional endoscopy. This allows me to use minimally invasive, advanced endoscopic procedures for the staging and treatment of GI cancers and pre-cancerous conditions. Some of the advanced procedures I perform are: endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic retrograde pancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and luminal stenting. In addition, I also manage the "bread and butter" of GI, such as abdominal pain, constipation, and gluten intolerance. I treat patients over 18 and have a lot of experience with the elderly population.

The most rewarding part of my day is building relationships with patients. It's my goal to listen to my patients and use my knowledge and technical abilities to educate and improve their quality of life. I feel privileged to be part of someone's healthcare experience.

In my spare time, I take every opportunity I can to travel internationally and develop my amateur photography skills. I am also a street food connoisseur and a huge horror movie fan.
